Jantar Mantar CJP Protest attended by Seelampur Gangster Haji Afzal

New Delhi: A new controversy has emerged amid the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. A video purportedly showing the presence of Haji Afzal, an alleged gangster from Delhi's Seelampur area, at the protest has sparked debate at both the political and security levels. Police are now investigating his role in the July 20 protest and the violence that followed.

Did Haji Afzal attended the protest?

Haji Afzal was reportedly seen raising slogans with his supporters during a protest at Jantar Mantar on July 20. Police have launched an investigation after a video surfaced on social media. 

In a video uploaded on social media, Haji Afzal, who was accompanied by several associates, can be seen walking at the front of the gathering and raising slogans at Jantar Mantar during the protest. Officials said his activities are being examined based on the video and other evidence.

Who is Haji Afzal?

According to police records, Hafi Afzal is a notorious history-sheeter in Northeast Delhi. He has a total of 26 criminal cases registered against him under serious sections, including murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, the Arms Act, assault, the DPDP Act, and the MCOCA. He was convicted in one MCOCA case and served a six-year sentence.

Is Haji Afzal's wife AAP councillor?

Haji Afzal's wife, Hajjan Shakeela, is an elected Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor. She is an elected representative from the Seelampur ward. Following the news of Haji Afzal's participation in the protest, discussions about political connections have intensified. However, no political party has officially commented on the matter.
